Percy Seafood: Serving the Best Seafood in Boracay!

Our family went to Boracay last February. So this April, I’ll be featuring a month-long series of our latest Boracay food trip, starting with the best seafood spot I’ve ever been to in the island paradise.

Even though Boracay is an island, we find it hard to find good seafood restaurants there. We’ve tried seafood paluto, a food experience where you get to choose the ingredients and cooking method, but we got burned by it since the food was underwhelming and the prices were unreasonable. But the search for a good seafood restaurant has finally come to an end when we discovered Percy Seafood.

Percy Seafood

Percy Seafood is one of the newest concepts by The Sunny Side Cafe Group, the group behind Coco Mama, Spicebird, and its namesake The Sunny Side Cafe (check out my article about the group here). Located in the ground floor of Seaworthy Boracay, a boutique hotel by the same group, Percy serves seafood caught in the surrounding islands and cooked in Asian and Western styles.

Take note of this rule!

I’ll say it right away: Percy Seafood has the best seafood I’ve ever had in Boracay! Just drafting this articles makes me drool and want to come back. So let’s cut the suspense and talk about their food.

Let’s start with the Aklan Oysters (Aklan is the province where Boracay belongs). It’s prepared in six ways and is served by the dozen. We tried the Percy’s Fresh Oysters (has apple, mint, and onion mignonette) and Rockefeller (has spinach, The Sunny Side Cafe bacon, and parmesan cheese). I like the former because it’s fresh and refreshing. Unfortunately, I found the Rockefeller sour due to the spinach (they assured me it’s not spoiled).

To whet our appetites further, we also ordered Moules Frites, which are mussels stewed in white wine and onions. It’s briny and tasty.

Then got the Percy’s Basket, which is composed of deep-fried, beer-battered fish (mahi-mahi), shrimp, and squid and served with hand-cut fries and house-made aioli. The menu says that it’s good for 3-4 persons. But it’s so huge that I think it can serve more!

The batter is light, crisp, and airy. I love the mahi-mahi because it’s so meaty and juicy, and the squid is rightly cooked. This is easily my favorite dish from Percy, and possibly one of the best fish and chips and calamari I have ever tried.

That mahi-mahi is delicious!

For our carbs, we tried the Seafood Capellini, which is shrimp, clams, and squid in peppery white wine sauce. It’s spicy, tart because of the tomatoes, and garlicky. I just wished that the past is firmer.

If you’re not into seafood, Percy offers meat and also vegan options. We tried the Grilled Porkchop, which is so tender. It’s also sweet because of the barbecue sauce, tart due to tomatoes, and fresh due to the coriander. The mashed potatoes add a creamy element to the dish.

When we’re done with our seafood feast, were ordered from the Coco Mama beside the restaurant. Their ice cream bowls are perfect for the Boracay heat, without the guilt!

And if you want a drink, you can order a cocktail from Hello Sailor, the in-house bar of Seaworthy.

Surely, Percy Seafood is one of the best—if not the best—seafood restaurants in Boracay. No wonder it got the attention of some magazines such as Esquire and SPOT.ph. Just be prepared to pay a premium price. But hey, you’re eating seafood in Boracay, where prices are on the high side. Anyway, I highly recommend Percy Seafood to you!
