Devour Food Hub: Housing Amazing Birria Tacos, Burgers, and Lasagna
A few years ago, food parks were popping left and right. I’m not a fan of it because, in my opinion, the food tend to be faddish and mediocre. No wonder that its decline was inevitable.
But Devour, a food hub in Quezon City, is still standing strong even during the pandemic. Though many of its merchants were closed when I visited, it’s still there because it houses one of the best burger joints in the Metro and what I believe are the best Birria Tacos and Lasagna I have ever tried.
House of Birria used to be a cloud kitchen. But I guess due to its wild success, it opened a physical store at Devour (it’s the really the reason I paid the food hub a visit). They have an authentic recipe, using Mexican chilies and USDA beef.
To the uninitiated, birria is a stew that originated in the Mexican state of Jalisco and traditionally made of goat meat. So a birria taco, then, is filled with shredded birria meat. But the most interesting feature of this taco is the broth or consommé that comes alongside it. Either you spoon it into the taco or dunk the taco in it.
House of Birria makes a mean version. Its tortillas are soft and crisp (even feels flaky) at the same time, which is amazing! The beef is tender, the veggies add a refreshing crunch, and the cheese (2 kinds) are rightly sharp. Then twist some lemon juice for tang and put bone marrow (it’s an add-on and don’t you dare to forget!) for a rich creaminess. Let’s not forget the broth, which is flavorful and comforting! My only wish is that there were more of that amazing consommé!
Don’t forget to try their Horchata de Arroz (Mexican rice drink), which is creamy and has a nice cinnamon flavor. Although a bit too sweet to my liking, it’s still a refreshing drink to wash down all those Birria goodness!

Burgers at Hackensack 1950s Hamburgers
I read somewhere that Hackensack 1950s Hamburgers has amazing burgers that can contend with the top ones in the Metro. Hackensack is an American diner serving burgers, sandwiches, and rice meals.
I got their Deluxe Cheeseburger. Its patty is beefy and amazingly juicy, winning my heart! Then it’s sandwiched between 2 soft, homemade potato buns. The cheese is rightly sharp and the veggies add a refreshing crunch.
Indeed, it’s one of best burgers I had in the Metro! I can’t wait to be back and try their other burgers!

Lasagna at Doña Mila’s Lasagna
When I searched for good lasagnas for my mom’s birthday, I always read about Dona Mila’s. Unfortunately, I didn’t get from them at that time, giving me a reason to try it out during my Devour visit.
Their Premium Baked Lasagna has layers of al dente pasta with rightly sweet and tangy sauce and generously meaty. The cheese is also perfectly sharp.
