Worth the Splurge? The Wolfgang Experience Lunch Course (Rib Eye Steak!) at Wolfgang's Steakhouse
I’m launching a new series called Worth the Splurge? It’s about my foodventures that costed me a fortune! LOL. I’m starting this series on an American steakhouse that had made it’s way to the Philippines.
My girlfriend and I had our first anniversary back in January. To celebrate God’s faithfulness on our relationship, I thought of treating her to a steakhouse since she wants to eat steak. Okay, it’s really me who wants to eat steak. But since she once mentioned that she wanted to try a particular steakhouse, I thought it’s the perfect opportunity. Since I plan to spend way more than usual, I might as well have our date at the steakhouse. I’m both romantic and practical, hitting two birds with one stone! LOL.
So we went to Wolfgang’s Steakhouse. This iconic steakhouse was started in Manhattan, New York back in 2004 by Wolfgang Zwiener, a former headwaiter at Peter Luger Steak House, a legendary steakhouse in NYC (I can’t wait to have a food trip at the Big Apple!). Wolfgang’s has several branches in the U.S. and has expanded to Asia. In the Philippines, it already has 3 branches.
We went to their branch in Bonifacio Global City (BGC). Just like its other branches, the steakhouse has a classic interiors.
We tried The Wolfgang Experience Lunch Course, which includes a salad or soup, an entree, two sides, and a dessert. We got this because the Rib Eye Steak (600g) costs only P4788 (in comparison, the ala carte is P4488). For an additional P1688, you can also get the Seafood Taster as an appetizer. Since we’re both allergic to some items in it, we opted not to get it.
Here are the items that we tried:
Salad: Caesar Salad with Sizzling Bacon
We have a choice among Beverly Hills Chopped Salad, Caesar Salad with Sizzling Bacon, and Soup of the Day. We already knew that we had to get the second one when we read the words sizzling and bacon. LOL. The lettuce is nicely crisp and the bacon chunks (yes, you read that right!) is nicely cured and fatty.
Entree: Rib Eye Steak (600g)
Aside from the rib eye steak, you can choose among the following: Loco Moco (P1288), Chicken Parmigiana (P1288), Fish of the Day (P1588), Petit Filet Mignon (250g: P2688), and NY Sirloin Steak (400g: P3188).
We had our rib eye done medium rare and it was amazing! The meat is juicy and tender. It had a nice charred crust which adds to the flavor and texture. In every bite, I feel like there are mini explosions of juicy awesomeness!
Sides: Creamed Spinach and Mashed Potatoes
You can choose 2 sides to come with your entree. Aside from Creamed Spinach and Mashed Potatoes, the options include Sautéed Onions, Steak Fries, Steak Rice, and Steamed Broccoli. Nothing spectacular with the sides that we got.
Dessert of the Day: Key Lime Pie
I was hoping that the dessert was a New York Cheesecake. But I’m not complaining. The Key Lime Pie had a silky smooth custard which is nicely tart.
Worth the Splurge?
Absolutely! It was a very satisfying and tummy-filling meal. My Wolfgang’s Steakhouse experience even opened my eyes to the world of steak. Now, I’m planning to try more beefy goodness!* Sorry in advance, my bank account! LOL.
