My friends have been raving about Baguio City’s Seollem Cafe and its food, especially the Korean fried chicken. So on our Holy Week trip earlier this year, we planned to visit it on the last day. However, the local government didn’t suspend its number coding scheme so we were forced to cut our trip short and, unfortunately, skip the cafe.

Thankfully, we did a quick trip to the City of Pines recently and our first stop had to be Seollem Cafe!
Seollem Cafe is not just a Korean-inspired cafe. It’s a Korean cafe, with aesthetics and food that’s truly Korean.
I love this retro television!
If only we were able to visit earlier this year, we would’ve been able to see its first location, which had interiors inspired by Korean dramas such as Crash Landing on You and Itaewon Class. So we went to their second branch (and the only one as of the time of this writing) along Military Cut-Off Road, which feels homey yet still on trend.
There’s also a gift shop inside, which sells dried flowers, room sprays, and other merch. Since my wife loves flowers, I got her a mini bouquet. (Cheesy alert: I love you, My Love!)

Nice Dried Flowers!
Now, let’s talk about the food, starting with the Korean fried chicken. We tried the Original, which is crunchy, moist, and tender. But I think it could use a bit more salt.

We also tried the Buffalo, which remains crunchy even though doused in buffalo sauce. It’s slightly spicy with a nice acidity (I think it’s the vinegar from the hot sauce).

But my favorite is the Garlic Parmesan, which is super buttery and garlicky. And let me say this: It’s the best garlic parmesan chicken I have ever had! I will return to Seollem just for this!

Since we’re in Baguio City where the weather is cool, we also ordered their Kimchi Jjigae (stew). It has tasty pork, soft tofu, crisp veggies, and a nice spiciness and acidity.

There are other dishes that we tried, such as the American All-Day Breakfast Bowl, Kimbap (Korean rice rolls), and Korean Pizzas. These dishes were all good. Honestly, I don’t remember any dish that’s below average.

Since Seollem is a cafe, we tried a few of their drinks: Seollem’s Dalgona Latte (has a nice balance of creaminess and strength), Seollem’s Matcha Dalgona Latte (has a nice matcha taste), and Strawberry Milk (creamy and rightly sweet).

Are my friends right about Seollem Cafe? Am I happy with our visit? Absolutely! They have a cozy vibe and a Instagrammable interior, making it the perfect hangout spot for young people like me (LOL). But more importantly, they serve good non-Korean barbecue, Korean food. It’s easily one of the best Korean restaurants I’ve tried here in the Philippines. I highly recommend Seollem Cafe to you!
